“Growing up in this community, I learned all the qualifications needed to serve as our next Justice of the Peace.

Our court demands a common sense mediator with faith based wisdom, real life experience, and the benefit of being committed to our community. Together we can bring back respect for all, the steadfast resolve to do the right thing for businesses, families, & kids, and the real results that our community deserves.

I am Israel Aviles. For four generations, my family has lived, worked, and served together with you in this community. I would be honored to have your vote for Justice of the Peace.”

Israel and Tina have an old fashioned love story. They met in the band hall at what was then, Bowie Junior High. They not only stayed in band through high school, they graduated together as proud Vikings from Nimitz High. In marriage, ministry, and everyday life, they have been an inspiration to many through their 26 year marriage. You can follow the trail of their life on Facebook with their family moniker, #avilesadventure.

They were blessed with four children, Sam, the bearded one, Olivia, one spunky girl, Zeke, the one that grew tall, and Diego, the bookend to the brood. Israel and Tina understand personally the heartache of infertility and the miracle of life. You can read their journey on Tina’s blog.

Justice with a mission

The opportunity to serve as Justice of the Peace for our community is simply an extension of what I have been doing my whole life, serving. We all want justice in our court system. I want justice. But there has to be more. The law must be followed, not interpreted. But it is only common sense to connect the businesses, families, and students to the stellar resources available in our community to help break harmful cycles. That is what I call justice with a mission. A mission to respect all. A mission to resolve. A mission to get real results.

In practical terms, that means having a Justice of the Peace court with a set schedule that includes hours convenient for working people. Offering online training and regularly scheduled seminars on how to file a case, how to present a case, and time tested mediation procedures. It also means stepping up and putting into action the mobile court model proposed by those working to curb truancy that is successful in nearby counties. These are all viable opportunities to fulfill the call for justice and still be mission minded.

Early voting is Monday, October 22nd – Friday, November 2nd.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6th.

Legacy Lessons

I was raised right. Here in this community I learned RESPECT for all, RESOLVE to do the right thing, and the skills needed to get real RESULTS. Taught by my father; I teach my sons. The opportunity to serve God and country is valuable. Civic responsibility matters. Every vote counts. Study. Search. Dig. Choose carefully. …
